Russia invaded Ukraine: How will it affect scholarships and how can you succeed in the changing world.

The world will never be the same. Peace has broken. After World War II, big powers never confronted each other the way they are doing right now. In Europe, I can feel that people are frightened, thinking that war can come to their countries as well. Last week, supermarkets were full, even in Spain which is relatively far from Russia.

Germany has already doubled their defense budget stating that they are too weak to defend itself. What does this mean for you: the students who are looking for scholarships and trying to immigrate to Europe or the USA?

The Russian and Ukrainian conflict-how will it affect the scholarships 

First, the number of scholarships could be reduced. The more money that goes to making tanks and fighter jets will leave fewer funds for comparatively lucrative things i.e. scholarships.

What's the demand

The fact that Europe is facing several problems at the same time, it won't be surprising if the future number of funding is decreased. The concern about climate change would also decrease, health care would be ignored. Therefore, these majors can particularly see setbacks and their opportunities will decline.

However, some major will see exponential growth. The west is trying to reduce its dependence on Russian oil and gas. Therefore, any research involving innovation in energy would get huge attention. 

Electric and power engineers would be in high demand. Biologists would work to find biodiesels. A huge deal of research would be focused on making our devices energy efficient. Europe is clear, they want to get rid of Russian-energy-dependence by 2030.

Another topic that is getting attention is military and arms research. Europe would be interested in making more weapons and will need modern arms to fight the latest threats. Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Robotics based weapons will be game changers and get all the funding and attention from European funding agencies.

What can you do? 

If your field is anywhere similar to energy, AI, or robotics, I would recommend focusing on these topics of interest; alternative fuels, energy from sustainable sources, energy-efficient devices, military-related research, using AI and robots in wars, etc. 

Studying and researching one of these fields will increase your job prospects severalfold and increase your demand. You will get scholarships and jobs in Europe and the USA.
